As we head into summer, I think we are all looking for an extra bit of inspiration with creative summer activities. So I’ve put together a Creative Summer Boredom Buster chart featuring some of my favorite Barefoot Carrot activities, crafts, and even a recipe.
This free PDF has links to detailed blog posts with all the different activities.
You can also print it out and use it as a resource for days when creativity feels low and you need something fun to do with the kids. It’s like a choose your own adventure map for summer fun.
And if you are curious about the different activities, here’s a quick visual peek of the fun in store.
Puffy Paint Ice Cream Cone
A delicious looking craft that uses recycled materials! I made these with my son’s preschool class and they were a hit.
Cardboard Ice Cream Cart Toy
A couple of simple cardboard cuts, hot glue, and a bit of paint are all you need to make this whimsical summer toy. Pairs perfectly with the puffy paint ice cream cones!
Mosaic Chalk Art
One of our all time favorite ways to play with sidewalk chalk! There’s something extra special about peeling up all the blue tape and seeing the masterpiece unveiled.
Recycled Fairy Garden
Have some recycled fun building fairy houses and fairy gardens using whatever you have in the recycle bin. The pouch lids make perfect green sprouts in a recycled fairy garden.
Nature Soup
Water and nature combine in a wet, but relatively clean and fun activity. I share lots of tips and variations (and fun names for this activity) in the full blog post.
Milkshake Smoothie
Blend up some nutritious ingredients in a smoothie that tastes as delicious as a milkshake, seriously!
What Will You Create?
You are an awesome, creative parent whether you do none, one, or all of these fun activities (or if you make up your own version of creative summer fun). But, here’s hoping your summer is full of fun and creative moments!
